Candi Sukuh (Sukuh Temple)

The sukuh temple is near the solo (Surakarta) town. This temple is a popular tourist spot located in the east of the city of Solo or precisely in the Karanganyar region. For the first time visited this place you may be will scary for a little bit because Sukuh Temple is often referred to as a sordid temple because there are many statues and reliefs that display vital organs.

Sukuh Temple was rediscovered in a state of collapse in 1815 by Johnson, Resident of Surakarta during the reign of Raffles. Then Sukuh Temple studied by Van der Vlis in 1842. The results are reported in the book Van der Vlis entitled Prove Eener Beschrijten op Soekoeh en Tjeto.
Research on the temple was then continued by Hoepermans in 1864-1867 and reported in his book entitled Hindoe Oudheiden van Java. In 1889, Verbeek conducted an inventory of the Sukuh temple, followed by research by Knebel and WF. Stutterheim in 1910.
Until now Sukuh Temple is still a relic site and tourist attractions of Solo that are very enthralling by tourists.
